Again I have a ton of posts waiting... So I will start posting them just in a random order :D
Last week we had our portfolio week in school, so we each had to come up with 10 beauty photos. We had to make the schedule ourselves and find the models as well. 10 photos in 5 days was INTENSE. Some days I was at school for like 10 hours.. But I survived! And here are the results:
For every picture there were specifications and we are not allowed to photoshop any of the failures we might have made ;). All of the pictures taken by the photographer will be sent to France for approval and I won't hear from them until next year.
And now I have two weeks vacation from school, but not from schoolwork... So this christmas and new years eve I will be spending home doing them :D
As a last (but not the least!) model I had Marjut, which also made a blog post about it! There are more pictures!! Go check it here.
Talk to you sooon

Where did the summer disappear?
Hello hello!
Since I'm currently avoiding doing any schoolwork (hehe), I thought I´d post something! You know that stressfull feeling, when you know you're on a deadline, and even though you like the work you're supposed to do, you still do EVERYTHING else? Yeah, that's me...
I´ve been so busy with everything, that the time has just slipped from my hands. Wasn't it summer like three weeks ago??? Suddenly it´s almost cristmas?! Oh weell. I made nails with the winter theme/ Finnish Independence day which was last friday :)
I still have 10 facecharts I have to come up with, because we have a pretty important Portfolio week coming up, just before christmas.. I will be shooting half of my portfolio allready :O Oh and I have to arrange all the models and blah blah. Even my days 'off' I´m working. All the time.
The time has flown so fast these past five months. Or actually this whole year! I don´t know even where to start explaining all the things I´ve been doing since I started the Mufe Academy.. I've been doing over 150 hours of work practise - Different hair or fashion shows, music videos, photoshoots etc. And that is all besides school! Last three weeks I´ve been working every other day in a different place! One day I´m at the school, next day at a concert, third day at a hair show and fourth day I have a photoshoot. ETC. I don´t think I´ve ever done anything this risky and intense, but I love every bit of it!
Becoming a make up artist can be a huge leap, since there is NO guarantee that you will ever have enough of work or that you will ever be good enough for this industry. This is something that you really need to want. Fortunately I´m one to have a lot of ambition and I AM going to make it. Watch me ;)
In September Havu Media made a short clip about Make Up For Ever Academy, when we did the makeups for Helsinki Fashion week show :) You can recognize me from my flamy red hair ;)
I have a FEW ton of pictures that I´d like to share, but shinse I always have a different models while working, it takes so much time and effort to get their permission to post certain pictures (yes although the photographer has always all the legal usage of the photos, I don't want to post anything that might make a conflict with my models).

Mufe meets Sugarpill ♥
ASEFUFHEOWG! Once during last week I was so impressed with my own makeup work that I was at loss for words. Like, literally! So first I made a quick facechart about next day's school assignment (which was to do a makeup with a somekind of eyeliner as a main point), dreaming big with the colors. I wanted to play with Sugarpill´s Dollipop, since I so rarely get to use it on myself. I already knew who my partner/model would be, so I specifically designed this for her :)
The most awesome part about these pictures is that I DID NOT have to photoshop them! Of course I had to crop the pictures and fix the contrast just a little but nothing else.
Products used for the eyes
- Nyx Jumbo Eyepencil in Milk as a base
- Sugarpill Dollipop as the pink
- Make Up For Ever eyeshadow 09 as the darker purple
- Make Up For Ever eyeshadow 116 as the lighter purple
- Lime Crime Medusa as the eyeliner (mixed with Illamasqua seal)
- Sugarpill Afterparty as the blue/teal
- Sugarpill lashes Angel Baby
And of course I had to take like bazillion pictures of the makeup so here you goooo ...
Before and after! |
I´ve now been studying for 6 weeks and I don´t think there could be anything as awesome as this new life, that I could do. Last thursday and friday I worked on a few fashion runways and I had a blast! The days were loooong, like 14 hours at a time, but I LOVE IT. :)

Rainbow ombre
Happy September everyone!
I know, I know, I know I´m behind with my posts, but my school has started sssoo insanely fastly and training and learning takes basically up all my time... I have so many cool things on the way :3!
The main idea here was to make rainbow nails as a statement to support equal rights. As you all probably know, being gay is forbidden in Russia and there has been a huge hassle because a swedish athlete attending the World Athletics Championships in Moscow, wore colorful nails as a statement, to support the gay rights. I believe everybody should be let to be whoever they chose to be. Trying to stop them only makes people fight back. But let's not get into that! Main thing is the nails, and these I did to my friend who went to London for the weekend.
Of course one of the nails had to be covered in rhinestones, to add the 'chic' element ;)
But WOHOOO. I should more ofter try to do new experimental things. My friend asked me to make somekind of ombre nails, but I don´t happen to own any yellow nail polishes so I tought to myself - why not try with an acrylic paint? SO I DID AND HOLY HELL IT WORKS!!! :D
I applied the paint directly to the makeup sponge and patted it on the nails.
I was also suprised that the color payoff was efficient enough, since I used a clear base coat beneath and no white polish.
The end result!
...and now off to sleep.

Snow white
I have to admit this is something I did ... last christmas....! I used Sugarpills Heart Breaker palette, but I wanted to do something darker with it, not just the crazy neon colorful look. And after actually studying makeup in the Mufe Academy, I see so many flaws and 'mistakes' here :DD Hahhah it´s so funny.
Gotta go to sleepp.... I´ll try to post some of my nails tomorrow :)

Metallic Marble
I made a water marble with China Glaze New Bohemian collection. The collection includes six colors, but I cannot remember which ones I used here.
The pictures don´t quite show the effect these really had : < So I don´t have any other pictures. So you can just look at the picture about me with my extencions.

Studded nails?
A different way to do caviar manicure! Sweet but awesome. Not so hard to do.
I´m so tired after this schoolday, it was kind of rough and kind of long, so I won´t ramble today :3

Colorful Gothie
Time for a makeup instead of some nails allll the time. I used Sugarpill's Bulletproof (black), Poison Plum (purple) and Sleek's neon green from the Acid-palette. For lips I applied the super awesome Poisonberry from Lime Crime.
So my main point was just to practice the blending :3 And I did like the end result a lot.
It's so funny to look back at these pictures, which are from a few weeks back. In the past three schooldays we´ve been learning a lot about shading the face and ... I did not know anything about it, apparently. I mean, I don´t have any proper shading NOR highlighting on my face. No wonder I´ve always looked bit funny with makeup on. I cannot wait to go back to school to learn more. ♥
Sometimes I just don´t understand how my crappy phonecam cam be so crappy that it doesn't even get all the colors... My makeup looks just black :D
The makeup works in black and white as well, apparently. I look like a goth. A little.
I don´t know, what do you think about the colors?
Thanks for reading!

How do you Ombre Nails?
I get a lot of 'how do do those' -guestions about my ombre style nails everytime I post a picture of them, either on facebook or instagram or anywhere. So très bien, I will share how to do it! Although you can probably find this from google like in -5 seconds :)
These are really easy to do, as you can probably guess. You just need to practise a little bit of blending and you definitely need the proper equipment, but you probably also already have them at your home.
Inglot - 953 (black) / Color Club - Mrs Robinson (neon purple) / Color Club - Jackie Oh (neon pink) |
It´s really simple! First you file your nails, moisture cuticles, do the basecoat etc. whatever you do before usually applying nail polish. Take a makeup sponge, rinse it with water and then squeese all the extra water off. This way the nail polish will not absorb all into the sponge, thus saving you some varnish. Take the colors you want to use and apply them to the sponge, just as you can see above (from the sponges). Pat the colors to you´r nail, keep in mind that you want to blend them together from the middle! You can do a few layers usually. When you are ready, apply top coat and clean the cuticles either with a q-tips with acetone or with a nail polish remover pen, if you have one. Voilà, you're done!
My style to do them does not blend them enough, so you could also apply the polishes on a plate/mixing palette first and them blend them together in the middle with a wooden stick. Then take it up with the sponge.
Color Club - Jackie Oh (neon pink) / Color Club - Koo-Koo Cachoo (neon orange) |
Color Club - Jackie Oh (neon pink) / Color Club - Koo-Koo Cachoo (neon orange) |
Inglot - 953 (black) / Color Club - KooKoo Cachoo (neon orange) |
I don´t suggest first putting one one color and then trying to add the later color with the sponge. I tried it and the end result was... Not so good. I could not blend the colors together at all.
Flormal - No14 (neon green) / NfuOh - (neon yellow) |
You can also use a white base underneath if you want to make te color pop some more. In my case I used Inglot's white 038 for the base.
Inglot 953 (black) / Opi - Grape Set March (shimmery purple) / Inglot 956 - (matte-ish purple)
Inglot 953 (black) / Opi - Grape Set March (shimmery purple) / Inglot 956 - (matte-ish purple)
Sometimes different textures work together seamessly :)
These last nails I did with the customers own polishes, so I have no idea what they were :)
You can basically mix any colors together, so get creative!
xoxo
